 By Masakazu Takahashi 10:05AM 28 JAN 2015

Japan: Hokko Tarumae (Katsuichi Nishiura/Hideaki Miyuki) will make a return visit to the Dubai World Cup after completing a Grade 1 hat-trick with a repeat victory in the Kawasaki Kinen.

Sent off odds-on favourite, the country's foremost dirt performer raced in fifth before being sent for home at the top of the straight and going on to score easily by three-quarters of a length over Kazenoko, who lunged late.

ROSS BIRKETT shows skill before Australia trip

Wolverhampton
Rodney Masters

“EXACTLY a week before he leaves Newmarket for three months in Australia Ross Birkett kept in shape for the 12 lots a morning awaiting him with Gai Waterhouse in Sydney when he landed the 6f handicap for amateurs on Waterloo Dock.

“Birkett, 25, who won the trip under the Alex Scott scholarship scheme, has not given a thought to packing. He said: There is no point because I will be riding out for Mum [trainer Julia Feilden] on the day I fly. “I’m really looking forward to the experience.

“I’m not sure what the amateur scene is like out there, but I have no plans to ride. With 12 lots a day I’ll be fit enough to resume here when I return in May and I’ll be giving it a good go again on the grass. As an amateur that is call you can do because it’s all a bit of fun. “

Birkett , who’s final ride before travelling will be at Lingfield on Friday , was required to ditch plan A to make all on Waterloo Dock when the 10 year old reared in the stalls as the gates opened.

“He said; “My strict orders were to make all, but when that went wrong I thought I’d keep him wide because perhaps because he doesn’t like being crowded. It was his first run on Tapita and he moved well on it. Even at his age he’s as game as anything. “

AUSTRALIAN RACEHORSE TRAINER GAI WATERHOUSE

AUSTRALIAN HORSERACING GOVERNMENT
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thoroughbred horse racing is an important spectator sport in Australia, and gambling on horse races is a popular pastime with A$14.3 billion wagered in 2009/10[1] with bookmakers and the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB). The two forms of Thoroughbred horseracing in Australia are flat racing, and races over fences or hurdles in Victoria andSouth Australia. Thoroughbred racing is the third most attended spectator sport in Australia, behind Australian rules football and rugby league, with almost two million admissions to 360 registered racecourses throughout Australia in 2009/10.[1] Horseracing commenced soon after European settlement, and is now well-appointed with automatic totalizators, starting gates and photo finish cameras on nearly all Australian racecourses.
