“Australia a land of opportunity as Adelaide's win proves.
 “Team (Aidan) O’Brien"
“Wishful Thinking: whets the appetite. Heart warming stuff. “

THE BREEDERS’ CUP (USA) 2014
FLAG? WHO’S? THAT SEEMS AT PRESENT TO POSE A PROBLEM:

“ THE BREEDERS’CUP, even with American racing’s medication issues, remains a fantastic event and it is set to be so once again this week. Britain sends a typical strong team and, regardless of whose flag might be flown, Toronado will be a representative of that team.

“Who’s camp the star miler actually belongs to became a question after it emerges Al Shabaq Racing had said no to the Richard Hannon-trained Santa Anita favourite and stablemate Osaila carrying the Union Jack rugs that signify representation and membership of Team British Racing. As decisions go , this one was surprising and somewhat regrettable .

“In explaining why Sheikh Joaan’s two runners would be set apart from the other British raiders it was explained they are Qatari-owned and it would therefore not be  “appropriate” for them to be part of Team GB. Wrong.

J Margaret Clarke Turfcall Factfile

Owner Sheikh Joaan chose to place Toronado and Osaila in training with a British Licensed Flat Turf Trainer, Richard Hannon.(GB). The Hannon team of handler - riders have been working with these two horses every single day, ongoing over several years. It is this Hannon Team who have taught these two horses all they know to date, their success on racecourses around the world are due entirely to Team (Richard) Hannon’s expertize and highly skilled working practices,  for which owner Sheikh Joaan has chosen and paid Hannon to carry out for him this highly skilled creative work of art.

If Sheikh Joaan had wanted his racehorses to carry the Qatati Flag he would have needed to have them trained by highly skilled horsemen in his own country. The possibility that there are no highly skilled horsemen in Qatari, or any licensed trainers either, is possibly the reason this owner has them in training with Hannon in Britain. If owner Sheikh Joaan refuses to allow his horses to compete with the GB flag at the Breeders Cup (USA) this weekend, he will be doing the equivalent of smacking Team Hannon in the face. . . It is the skill and expertize of the Hannon Team both in theory and in practise that has achieved such success for this owner Sheikh Joaan.

Does owner Sheikh Joaan really want to abuse Team Hannon in such a dreadful way in America?  After all they have achieved with Toronado and Osaila in Britain?  Sheikh Joaan to take issue to snub, in such a cruel  and evil way as to take all the credit for what British Team Hannon have worked and achieved for him? No, no, no.

TEAM GREAT BRITAIN HAVE THEIR OWN FLAG THIS IS HOW IT WORKS:
Team (Richard) Hannon (GB). Team (Sir Michael) Stoute (GB) Team (Charles) Hills (GB) Team (David) Simcock (GB) Team (Tom) Dascombe (GB). Team (Jamie) Orborne (GB)
etc ....

TEAM IRELAND HAVE THEIR OWN FLAG THIS IS HOW IT WORKS:
Team (Aidan) O'Brien (IRE)
Team (Conor) Murphy (IRE)
etc ...

TEAM FRANCE HAVE THEIR OWN FLAG THIS IS HOW IT WORKS:
Team (Andre) Fabre (FR)
etc ...

TEAM AMERICA HAVE THEIR OWN FLAG THIS IS HOW IT WORKS:
Team (Todd) Pletcher (USA)
etc ....

“These horses” said spokesman Harry Herbert “are followed by not just the sheikh and his friends but also by the Qataris and should always be flying a Qatar flag. All the more reason that the Qataris should know the true, truth about how these horses are trained, and how fit they need to be athletically fit for horseracing. They should know that not just anyone can train or ride racehorses. And that no one can train a racehorse in a chicken run. As neither can a horse be brought in from a field and be taken straight to a racecourse and expected to win a race. No one is saying that the people from Qatar can’t wave their own flags.

“Nobody ever sought to argue Sea The Stars was running from Hong Kong instead of Ireland and, in the same way, horses taking part in equestrian events at the Olympics represent the countries of their riders, not those of their owners. That is how it should be.

Christopher Tsui the owner of Sea The Stars chose an Irish trainer for Sea The Stars, John Oxx. Sea The Stars was trained in Ireland for the whole of his racing career. If an issue had come up as this then Sea The Stars would have been run bearing an Irish Flag. Because Ireland was the country he was trained in.  At the request of his owner Tsui. Tsui who understood the importance of how a racehorse is trained, he made absolutely sure Sea The Stars was trained properly. That Tsui who owns Sea The Stars lives in Hong Kong was not the issue.

It would be good if in the 2015 running of the Arc each horse had a saddle cloth that stated which country each runner was trained in as well. An excellent way forward for global horseracing. Yes, yes, yes.

"When Treve defended her Arc crown it was a victory for France, even though she is Qatari-owned.

Some of these other countries who run horseracing, India for instance, have shown a complete lack of respect for both the racehorses rights and needs and the people who work with the racehorses every day, their rights and needs. By rights India is not fit to run any sort of horseracing.

THE TRUE REASONING
GLOBAL BLOODHORSE LITERATE RACING RIGHT EQUUS ZONE
 defined

The highly skilled art and creation in preparing a thoroughbred racehorse for competition on global racetracks is something that needs to be properly understood by everyone. Which at present is far from the case.

“TORONADO has always been trained throughout his racing life in Britain . He was bought by Shiekh Joaan after his two-year-old season and, although the owner has financed the majority of the horses career, the crucial expertise that has taken him to Group 1-winning heights has come on British soil from a British-based trainer.

“Anyone can fly any flag after any race but the unwritten rules and understanding of the sport do not need rewriting. If Toronado triumphs in the States on Sunday it will no doubt delight many in Qatar, which is a good thing, but he would be a British winner of the 11.40 Breeders Cup Mile Turf on Sunday November 2. http://www.breederscupraces.net/mile.html

"  De Sousa to be taken off forfeit list. "

"SILVESTRE DE SOUSA can expect to be removed from the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) forfeit list after he paid the outstanding costs (£20,000) claim from a failed  "Bloodhorse Literate " appeal in Dubai yesterday. "  Demanded unjustly by the "Bloodhorse Illiterate Emirate Racing Authority Government to cover a legal costs claim from a failed "Bloodhorse Literate" appeal " .  This was a Racing Right Equus Zone Matter taken out of context and placed in a Bloodhorse Illiterate Court of Law conducted by Bloodhorse Illiterate lawyers.
"The Dubia World Cup-winning jockey had resisted paying the £20,000 bill for legal costs and challenged the "reasonableness of the charges while he sought a breakdown of the sum, De Suisa was placed on the forfeit list by the Emirates Racing Authority  this month, which automatically  made him a disqualified person, but the sanction was not reciprocated in Britain after the Dubai authority said it was not seeking to extend the ban.

"De Suisa, who continues to ride for Godolphin, said he was keeping his options open as regards a return to Dubai this winter when he rode African Story to victory in the Dubai World Cup in March.

"He said: " I've just paid the "£20,000 I am reported to be on the forfeit list for, but I don't know what I'm doing this winter yet. I'm getting plenty of rides on the all -weather and I may ride here for now. "

"Pat Cosgrove remains on the Emirates Racing Authority's government forfeit list having not paid "£35,000 in costs from a separate Dubai appeal hearing, but he continues to ride in Britain. "

BLOODHORSE ILLITERATE GOVERNMENTS ARE TRASHING THIS SPORT MAKING IT DOUBLEY DANGEROUS BY THE SECOND OF EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY.
Something stinks here, licensed jockeys are being expected to go out and ride in races every day, literately putting their lives on the line every ride they take, to then be judged,  charged  and  condemned by "Bloodhore Illiterate" lawyers as criminals, to be put on "Bloodhorse Illiterate Forfeit lists. Appallingly blatant  government acts of "Bloodhorse Illiterate Scam Set-Up's  to suit only themselves" .

A highly dangerous sport which has become more dangerous every day over the last six decades to be now firmly wedged in an evil government red alert global danger Equus Zone. Such Governments who don't even bother about having any recognised True Racing Right Global Equus Zone Rules of Horseracing anywhere.

"Champions debate is stuck for now in the Ascot mud. "
"The organizers should stop trying to sell the occasion for what it isn't" .
"THERE is little point continuing to challenge the timing of Champions Day for the simple fact it is not going to  relocate to a more appropriate date. It will continue in its present guise for as long as Qipco sponsor it. To avoid us having to become accustomed to the curtain
closing more often than not in a sea of mud, it appears we must pin our hope on successful testing of revolutionary covers.

"Any date change would require Britain to withdraw from the Pattern, and thus precipitate the Pattern's demise. That would be no bad thing:  the Pattern is a relic that still goverens thinking more than four decades after it was introduced. Over that period football, cricket, golf, tennis, rugby union, rugby league, etc, etc have completely transformed themselves in tandem with the times.

"But that's another story. Those who argue the prime consideration for Champions Day should be decent ground have been overlooked. It seems the racing itself  doesn't seem to matter as much as other aspects.

"It is regrettable the size of a crowd lured in part by alternative entertainment and the raft of free or discounted tickets has become the gauge by which the day is deemed a success, but there  you are. In that respect the organisers have indeed moved with the times. They are not immune from making disingenuous claims in their quest for positive spin.

"This contrast in thinking between the organisers and racing professionals was perfectly highlighted in the Monday Jury in this newspaper .  A jockey, a trainer and assess the significance a form expert all highlighted Ascot's testing ground as a caveat when asked to assess the significance of what the winning horse achieved. They mirrored the thoughts of every Flat-race enthusiast in treating soft-ground results with caution.

"Despite that, those involved with Champions Day persist in trying to validate in a meaningful championship context when there is no need to do so.  It is what it is: An October fest for horses who thrive in soft ground. Just as some who yearned for a fitting racing finale have accepted this, the organisers should stop trying to sell it for what it isn't. "

JMC: The gulf between the media and the sport of horseracing is so vast it is a wonder that we haven't all drowned by now. Perhaps government needs to make sure they not only   squeeze every last penny out of everyone's pay pocket from "work time" but also now government plan to get their hands on everyone's "leisure time"  cash as well. And what better way than through horseracing? The sport they have been ripping off, and getting away with ripping off over the last 6 decades. Easy money or what?

RICHARD HUGHES in his Racing Post Feature last Saturday (pages 16-17) had this to say about the conditions for the horses going into the British Qipco Champions Day at Royal Ascot: Saturday October 18. Brought to us live by Ch4 Horseracing Team.

“Action will be more like jump racing” .
GROUND TALK

“THE Ascot ground has been a big talking point throughout the week- and for good reason as it’s going to have a big bearing on how the races are run and who wins them, especially if it rides heavy.

“There really is a big difference between soft and heavy. The very best horses can cope with soft ground, but when it turn’s heavy you invariably need a proper mud-lover. Horses go into the ground that much deeper when it becomes heavy and animals who bend their knee to a significant extent find they can get over the ground much more easily.

“I can guarantee what you’ll see today will look like jumps racing.  Although the straight course at Ascot is sand-based you still see fields getting strung out on soft ground, while the old round course is even more difficult when the going gets tough. You definitely won’t see five lengths separating the fields come the finishes on this British Champions Day. It’s more likely you’ll see them strung out by 25 lengths. I think you will also see strongly run races. Although it seems perverse, on really soft ground races somehow seem to be run at an even stronger tempo that when the ground rides quick. You certainly don’t start off more slowly in an attempt to ensure your mount gets home. Indeed, if your horse handles the ground you tend to go harder and faster than you normally have done. From then on you just try to last home, producing races very much like those staged on dirt in America.

“If you do  have a soft ground performer you want to do everything you can to take those horses who don’t like the ground out of their comfort zone. . If there’s a chance a rival might not like the ground you want to make absolutely certain he or she ends up not liking it.

“The ground will also make life difficult for jockeys when it comes to obeying the whip rules. Horses will be coming off the bridle sooner than would usually be the case.  That means they will need encouragement over a long period to keep going. Hopefully, the stewards will appreciate that today’s races will be akin to jumps races without the jumping. The jumps lads are allowed to use the whip a little ,more freely  than we are. It would be helpful if today we get treated like the jumps lads. “

J Margaret Clarke Turfcall Factfile

Ground conditions are key to every single racehorse's performance, both at home in training, and on the racecourse when competing.  Heavy ground can injure some horses so badly that they never race again.

"BEFORE last night's Canadian International, Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore were the only trainer and jockey involved in the race to already have won the fabled Grade 1 contest  and Hillstar added to their fine record as he put his name on a roll of honour featuring such luminaries as Secretariat, Dahlia and Stoute's own Singspiel.

“However, much of the drama took place before the start of the $1 million contest when Brown Panther, clearly edgy throughout the preliminaries, had to be withdrawn after unshipping Richard Kingscote and bolting’

“Fortunately neither horse or jockey were hurt but it was an unfortunate outcome to owner- breeder Michael Owen’s  transatlantic journey. Owen tweeted: “Long way to come for nothing! Thank goodness horse and jockey are both okay. “

“in Brown Panther’s absence, Hillstar looked a cut above his eight North American rivals and he was duly sent off 5-4f before holding the late challenge of Big Blue Kitten to become Stoute’s second winner of the race after Singspiel in 1996.

“Moore was completing back-to-back triumphs after Joshua Tree’s success 12 months ago. He produced Hillstar soon after turning for home and the pair sprinted clear to take up the running to the line. The result was in no doubt thereafter, although US-trained second favourite Big Blue Kitten closed strongly from the rear under Joel Rosario without ever looking likely to reel in the winner.

“Although Moore looked to have given Hillstar a copybook ride, yet again demonstrating his abilities on the biggest international stages, the jockey himself felt he had sent him for home a touch too soon. “I moved a bit too early but he was the best horse in the race, “ he said. “The boss had this in mind as a target from a long way out. “

“As such, Hillstar was value for more than the winning margin. Canadian-trained Dynamic Sky took third a couple of lengths further away.

“Carrying the colours of owner-breeder to four wins from 14 starts. The son of Danehill Dancer stopped the clock at 2m29.0s on ground rated ‘ good’

JMC. Government power abuse barking up the wrong tree. Where are the governments ‘ True Bloodhorse Literate Whip Rules for Horseracing? When is this sport to be run using “True Bloodhorse Literate Whip Rules” .When does the British political, legal, financial, racecourse and horseracing government intend to learn what they are doing wrong?
Our Queen Elizabeth 11 bothered to learn herself with the help of her American Horseman friend Monty Roberts. If these British government people can’t be bothered to find out what they are doing wrong. Their best option is to ban the use of the whip in the last furlong of every race.
WHERE ARE THE TRUE GLOBAL RULES OF HORSERACING?
All the while governments refuse to allow True Whip Rules of Global Horseracing. It is being very unsporting itself to all those taking part to include the horses.
