It could be said that the male of the species in part over the last 165 years have been spoilt. The male daily existence necessities of life, throughout supplied free of charge by female care and hard work. Holiday's or time off for "her indoors" unheard of.

From the 1700’s through to the 1960’s /1970’s British horseracing was very much a male sport. Things only began to change for the female of the species late in the 1960's when licenses for female trainers, and female riders were first started.

Female Jockette’s (riders) as they were first called, found there were hardly any races to ride in, this being the first stumbling block. The amateur riders races, were quickly banned for female riders, jockette’s who worked in racing, the second stumbling block. Now in 2015, we find it has taken 45 years of stumbling blockes for one British jockette Haley Turner to find for herself any sort of career path in Flat racing.

In the historic first Flat ladies race as the Jockette’s left the weighing room and walked out to join-up with their horses, there were male racegoers trying to pinch their bottoms as they walked by.
